Former colleagues meet

Ex-employees of the South African Torbanite Mining and Refining Company held a reunion in Farrarmere on April 7.

Those in attendance are, back (from left): Ken Stanton, Rodney Finlay, Carol Fischer, Philip Horn, Gerry Page, Drummond Tocher, Rudy Notlowitz (guest), Sagrys Lombard and Ian MacKay. Front: Cowboy Els, Alex Hay, Jimmy and Hester (guest) Labuschagne and Marie Lombard (guest).

The bi-annual reunion was held at Jimmy Labuschagne’s house.

The Boksburg refinery was closed in 1976, but a lot of the employees at the reunion worked together for many years.
