Londoners support anti-Zuma expats

Two Benonians joined about 500 people in an anti-Jacob Zuma protest in London on April 8.

Expats Michael Milne and his fiancée Cassandra Ewing joined hands with other South Africans at Trafalgar Square, from 11am until 1pm.

“It was an energetic protest with a lot of South Africans and their families,” said Ewing, who along with her partner, is a former Benoni High School learner.

“I was asked a few times by English people, as well as people around the world, about what was happening and why we were standing and singing.

“I told them why we were there and they had no idea that this was all happening in South Africa.

“They then stood by me chanting ‘Zuma must fall’ with all of us.”

A letter addressed to the National Assembly, on behalf of those at Trafalgar Square, asked Parliament to put the Constitution first and to remove Zuma from office.
