More confusion surrounds Valuation Roll letters

The issuing of letters for the General Valuation Roll is still causing confusion amongst some.

In the previous article published by the City Times, Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) spokesperson Themba Gadebe apologised for incorrect property information sent to the municipality’s residents.

According to Kempton Park resident Iain Pitts, he received a new letter with information about a property in Morehill.

“It seems strange that some of the details reflected are correct while others are not,” said Pitts.

“I have attempted to get information from the Benoni council about this continuous error without success.

“Telephones are not answered.”

The City Times contacted Rynfield resident Jenny Bayley, who had previously received a letter with incorrect information.

She said the details on the second letter was correct.

“From what I can see, all the information is correct in this letter,” she said.

According to Ward 27 Clr Jacques Meiring, some people have received letters with the correct information, while others still have the wrong information.

“I was told the new letters with the correct information would be issued in May,” he said.

“This means that they will need to extend the deadline for the objection period.”

The municipality said the deadline for objections is May 5.
