Soca: Speaker calls EMPD into chambers

The mayor was forced to deliver Ekurhuleni’s State of the City Address (Soca) outside the Germiston Council Chambers after it was interrupted by members of the EFF while everyone was inside.

Members of the EFF reportedly interrupted the mayor, Clr Mzwandile Masina, shortly after he started delivering the address.

The speaker, Clr Patricia Kumalo, eventually called in the EMPD to remove the EFF members.

Allegedly, the DA members all pulled out red cards and told the EMPD officers to get out of the chambers and the DA and EFF members scuffled with the officers.
