Tripartite memorandum signed

Ekurhuleni executive mayor Clr Mzwandile Masina completed the signing of the tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the mayor of Lusaka in Zambia, Clr Wilson Kalumba, on March 23 in Germiston.

“As the City of Ekurhuleni, by signing this Memorandum of Understanding, we want to deal with issues of heritage conservation by implementing a number of strategic initiatives, both in Lusaka and in South Africa,” said Masina.

“We also look forward to strategic sessions on knowledge sharing and cultural exchanges.

“Between the two countries there’s a rich history of political freedom which is anchored by the foundation that is the struggle stalwart O R Tambo.”

The Zambian signature had been outstanding in the MoU, which was signed in 2008 with Alfred Nzo District Municipality and the City of Ekurhuleni.

Masina also handed over a copy of the letter written by O R Tambo while he was in Italy during his time in exile.
