Six suspects blow up drop safe

Six suspects escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash after they bombed a drop safe at the Engen petrol station in Brentwood Park.

The incident took place this morning, March 23.

The robbery took place at around 2am, on the corner of Great North and Celia Nestadt roads.

The robbers wore balaclavas and three carried rifles.

Capt Nomsa Sekele, the Benoni SAPS spokesperson, said one suspect pointed a firearm at the cashier and money from the till was also taken.

Sekele said no shots were fired and no one was injured.

“They drove away in an Audi and a case of business robbery was opened,” she added.
