On February 12, last year, Ayanda Africa Nene (25), and three other men robbed a man who was walking from the Northmead Train Station to the Benoni CBD.

“He was approached by three males who pulled out a firearm and robbed him of undisclosed amount of cash, cellphone and bank cards,” said Benoni SAPS spokesperson Const Zunickha Essakjee.

“The suspects fled the scene on foot. ”

The victim called for help, and with the assistance of taxi drivers, one suspect was arrested and detained at the Benoni Police Station.

Det-Sgt Donovan Naicker managed to locate and arrested Nene, after a warrant of arrest was issued when he failed to comply to bail conditions.
