UPDATE: Funds exceed R18 000 for Lakefield accident victim

Over R18 000 has been raised for the woman who was critically injured in a Lakefield accident on Friday night (March 17).

Chanelle Cominetti (27) was involved in a collision with another vehicle on Lakefield Avenue, at about 11pm, while en route to her home in Bedfordview.

She was alone in the car and was transported to the Union Hospital in Alberton.

According to her mother Pamela, Chanelle is currently in a coma after sustaining head injuries.

Pamela said the former Benoni High School learner’s sister, Raquel, has started a crowdfunding page to prepare for the possibility of the medical aid funds running dry.

“At any stage the hospital could say that the medical aid plan is depleted and that we need to pay cash,” said Pamela, who lives in Farrarmere.

“We don’t want to be found lacking when it runs out.”

Friends and family of the Bedfordview resident also pledged money for her parents to return home from Malawi on Saturday.

When asked how she felt when she heard about the news of the accident, Pamela said: “It was absolutely horrendous. I can’t begin to tell you what went through my mind. The plane could not get here fast enough.”

Chanelle’s mother thanked those who have pledged money.

Anyone who would like to assist can contact Pamela on 072 757 9829 or WhatsApp her on 079 690 3281.
