Man dies on Fifth Avenue

A man died late yesterday (March 11) afternoon when he was knocked over by a light motor vehicle on Fifth Avenue.

The incident happened near Great North Road.

“ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find the pedestrian lying in the middle of the road,” said ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring.

He said a light motor vehicle was parked a few metres away.

“Paramedics immediately assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries, including a serious head injury,” Meiring added.

“ER24 paramedics immediately initiated advanced life support interventions and treatment, in an effort to stabilise the patient’s vital signs.”

The man later died and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Local authorities were on the scene to investigate the cause of the collision.
