UPDATE: Great North accident victim still in hospital

The woman who was airlifted to hospital following a five-vehicle accident on Great North Road on Monday is still in a critical but stable condition.

A police vehicle was involved in the accident.

Speaking to the City Times, a family friend, who did not want to be named or disclose the identity of the 69-year-old woman, said she is in the ICU at the Union Hospital, in Alberton.

He said at 12.30pm today (March 10) that the woman is still sedated.

A case of reckless and negligent driving was opened.

The City Times could not obtain the latest on the investigation at the time of publishing.
