The incident happened on Newton Avenue, at around 6.15am.
“When we arrived on scene, he had jumped out of the burning vehicle; his back was on fire,” said ER24 spokesperson Sanjay Sukdeo.
Sukdeo said the man, who is believed to be in his 40s, sustained second degree burns in the Opel Corsa.
He was transported to the Life the Glynnwood Hospital.
