Actonville doctor arrested

Dr Mohamed Amin Ahmed, whose practice is based in Actonville, was arrested by the Hawks yesterday (February 16).

According to Lieut-Col Robert Netshiunda, a spokesperson for the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks), Ahmed was arrested on charges of contravening the Medicines Control Act and the possession of suspected stolen medication.

“We suspect some of the medication found in his (Ahmed’s) possession, may have been stolen from government hospitals,” said Netshiunda.

Ahmed appeared in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court on February 17.
