New year, new head at Ashton

Ashton International College’s senior division has a new head.

Lynne Felix took over as the school’s headmistress at the beginning of the year.

She replaces Mark Brown, who is now the executive director of the school.

Felix is currently the longest serving teacher at Ashton Benoni, having started at the school in 2000.

She was appointed to the position of deputy headmistress in 2009.

The Atlasville resident praised her educators, who make the functioning of the school simple.

“It’s made easier by having clear and effective policies in place and we all understand and support value systems that everyone buys into,” said Felix.

“Our teachers are excellent.”

She also praised staff for teaching both the IEB and Cambridge curriculum, and going above and beyond.

“Ashton really does have a good family ethos,” she said.

“Teachers go to great lengths to care for children in a meaningful way.”
