Woman’s fear realised when tree crushes her wall

A large tree barely missed the house on a property in Webb Street, Northmead, when it fell over just before 10am this morning (January 27).

“It sounded like the world was ending,” were the words of the woman who owns the property.

“It was a hell of a sound.”

The resident, who would not be named, said she had been expecting the trees on the pavement of Webb Street to crack under their own weight for some time.

“All these trees have diseases; they’re weak,” the woman said.

“We reported it in November 2015, after a tree at the other end of the street fell onto a property.

“They never came out, saying there are no vehicles or they’re too busy.

“When the municipal team was here earlier, after the tree fell, they said they can’t cut out the tree now, because they’re knocking off soon.”

An enquiry was sent to the metro, but no comment was forthcoming at the time of publishing.
