Many hands make light work at Korsman

Good progress was made in removing worrying weeds at the Korsman Bird Sanctuary on Friday (January 13).

The area, in Westdene, needed emergency removal of specific weeds, which came as a result of vigorous germination after recent rains.

Weed removal expeditions were due to be held on the Saturday and Sunday as well.

“I will be holding work parties from 8.30am until 11am for all three days,” said chairperson of the conservancy, Jane Trembath, last Friday.

“We’ll be targeting purple top and fleabane (weeds), with full training provided.”

Trembath invited members from the South African Association of Retired Persons to help on Friday, where the weekend teams would constitute more working people.
