Warren will be missed for his kind heart

Rynfield resident Warren Alfred Vonolton Smith (77) died on January 10, after living with Parkinson’s disease for 10 years.

Warren was born in Springs in 1939. He was one of seven children.

He worked as a compositor at Springs Printing Press.

Smith married Heather in 1963.

His wife described him as a loving brother, husband and father and said he had good friends with whom he had a lot of fun.

Warren later worked with his brother, John Smith, at Pet’s Parade in Springs.

“Warren’s gentle manner and kind heart extended to the animals in his care, and the pet shop ran successfully for a number of years,” said Heather.

While in Springs, Warren and Heather started their family, becoming the parents of Kevin and Angela.

They got the agency for Turnall Garden Pots and moved to Boksburg, where they started a compost business.

Warren was a well-known and respected businessman in the Boksburg area.

He was a hard worker and a thorough gentleman and was loved by all who knew him.

“He fought bravely to stop the progression of Parkinson’s disease,” said Heather.

“Throughout his illness he rarely complained, was always grateful for the help provided to him and went through the disease with the utmost courage and kind diplomacy which he was known for.”

His hearty laugh and fun-loving nature will be dearly missed by all.

The family thanked everyone for their wonderful support, including Dr David Evans, the Village Walk Frail Care Team, friends and family, amongst others.

Warren is survived by his wife, two children and one grandchild, Tristan Smith (7).

His funeral service was held on January 13 at St Patrick’s Catholic Church.
