Police helps Morehill man with flat tyre

Morehill resident Norman Ehlers has expressed gratitude to the police officers who assisted him after he had a puncture on the N12 highway.

Ehlers was on his way to Johannesburg when his car got a flat tyre on December 24, at around 11.30am.

He said he parked his car on the side of the road and called for help.

“Before the lowbed truck could arrive from Merc, a police officer, Lieut-Col Steven McIntosh, came to my assistance,” said Ehlers.

“The officer assessed the damage and radioed for assistance.”

McIntosh called his wife, Const Inge-Marie McIntosh, from the Benoni Flying Squad to bring a puncture kit.

Ehlers didn’t have a spare wheel or puncture kit in his vehicle.

He said he is truly grateful for their help.

“People are always so quick to criticise police and I think we should appreciate them when they do good,” he said.

Inge-Marie, with the help of colleague WO Dinala, said they helped to make sure that everyone got home for Christmas.
