The single-vehicle accident happened near the Voortrekker Street bridge, when travelling west, just before 6am.
ER24 spokesperson Sanjay Sukdeo said the 35-year-old male driver was transported to the Tambo Memorial Hospital for further treatment.
He was the only person in the Toyota Avanza.
