Three arrested 15 minutes after robbery

Three suspects were arrested in the CBD, about 15 minutes after they had robbed a man of his bank card and cash.

Capt Alie van den Berg, team leader of the Ekurhuleni Central Cluster Trio Task Team, said police and CPF members chased after the suspects following a robbery in Crystal Park.

“They lost the robbers, but reported they were driving a black BMW,” van den Berg said.

“As we were driving along Pretoria Road, we noticed the black BMW with three occupants and gave chase.

“We followed them to the CBD, near the corner of Swan Street and Ampthill Avenue, and arrested all three.”

Van den Berg said an undisclosed amount of cash, as well as the victim’s bank card, was recovered.

No firearms were found during the arrest.
