Empowering future generations

Jacob Mabote was born in the Free State, moved to Benoni and plans to empower the youth to create leaders for future generations.

Jacob Mabote has a heart to help the youth to become better people by using his book and organisation.

BCT: You were born in the Free State, but settled in Petit in 2011, what makes this area special to you?

JM: Benoni is where my wife, Nonhlanhla Mabote, was born.

I have fond memories about this place because I proposed to my wife on November 27, 2011, at 4 Degrees East in Petit and what an awesome day it was.

Benoni is unique because it is in the centre of several areas.

When you want to go to Springs, Delmas or Pretoria you are able to reach these places easily and it is unique because all cultures are represented here.

BCT: Where do you live?

JM: I have lived in Cloverdene for almost a year.

BCT: Tell us about your life growing up?

JM: I was born in Cornelia in the Free State. I am the second born in a family of three boys.

My parents are Paulus and Elizabeth Mabote and my siblings are Nkgotho and Sengange Mabote.

I attended Ntswanatsatsi Primary School and Bongane Lebohang Secondary School.

After matric I studied at a college in Johannesburg and received a diploma in leadership (2006) and certificates for trauma counselling and psycho-social support and community service chaplain in 2007.

My wife and I have a daughter, Malehlohonolo “Blessing” Mabote (3).

BCT: Tell us about your Divine Impact foundation which you founded in 2013?

JM: The Divine Impact foundation is a non-profit organisation and social movement that aims to propel a dialogue amongst young people, where youth-related matters in South Africa are of concern.

To share knowledge in teaching young people the art of self-empowerment and employment without waiting for its government to take the first step.

BCT: You also wrote a book, tell us about that?

JM: I launched my book “Purpose never expires”, a hard copy and CD on October 3, 2015.

The book is about people’s purpose because unfortunately many people live without purpose and as a result never really experience life in its fullness.

The book will challenge and inspire people to be driven to their purpose.

BCT: You are busy for a 34-year-old, do you have any hobbies or future goals?

JM: I love soccer and music with all my heart; I want to build an academy or university where young people are going to be empowered for their success.
