EMPD officer allegedly rapes woman

A case of rape has been opened at the Daveyton Police Station, after a woman was allegedly raped by an EMPD officer on October 2.

The incident occurred at around 7pm.

Daveyton SAPS spokesperson, Capt Mesh Makole said it is alleged the woman attended a burial society in Daveyton.

“Later on, she went to visit a relative in the area, but she couldn’t find her relative,” said Makole.

“She was then approached by an EMPD officer who offered to take her to his house, where she would wait for her relative.”

Makole added that upon arrival at the house, the man took out his firearm, locked the door and demanded sexual intercourse from her.

The spokesperson said the man then raped the woman and gave her money to catch a taxi.

EMPD spokesperson Lieut-Col Wilfred Kgasago confirmed that an EMPD officer appeared in court for the rape on Wednesday (October 5).

At the time of publishing, Makole could not confirm when the arrest took place.
