The incident happened just after the Putfontein Road off-ramp, when travelling east, at around 5.50pm.
ER24 spokesperson Sanjay Sukdeo said the pedestrian allegedly tried to cross the road when a taxi hit him.
The victim was declared dead on scene.
The deceased’s age and identity is not known.
The far left lane of highway was closed.
