EMM corrects comment

Contrary to what was initially published, residents in Ekurhuleni may not use hosepipes or sprinklers in their gardens at any times.

The Ekurhuleni Metro has clarified aspects of the water restrictions referred to in the article “Reduce your water consumption by 15 per cent”, which appeared on page 2 of the City Times dated September 16.

In the article, metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe was quoted as saying people may irrigate, fill swimming pools, use hosepipes and sprinklers between 6pm and 6am, but not between 6am and 6pm.

Gadebe has corrected the information he gave the City Times, saying: “Before 6am and after 6pm residents can use only buckets and watering cans to wash cars and water their gardens.

“Beyond this, all forms of irrigation, sprinklers and filling of swimming pools are not permitted at all times.”

Gadebe said buckets and watering cans may not be used between 6am and 6pm.
