Lakeside hosts chess tournament
Time To Meet Your Match is the title of the chess tournament hosted by Lakeside Mall and the Vosloorus Chess Club from September 10 to October 8 at Lakeside Mall entrance five.
The tournament caters for players in the professionals, schools and amateurs categories.
The four-week event will see the grand finalé on October 8 where the winners during the four weeks will compete for prizes.
Prizes up to the value of R20 000 will be given away.
Competitors will play during the following weeks from 8am to 4pm:
• September 17 – schools (under nine to under 18s)
• September 24 – amateurs
• October 1 – open to the public
• October 8 – grand finalé
Professionals kicked off the tournament on September 10.
