Mayor announces his team of MMCs

The executive mayor of Ekurhuleni, Mzwandile Masina, delivered his acceptance speech in the Germiston Council Chambers on August 31.

“At the outset, I wish to assure you that standing here is a humble servant of the people who is driven by only one ambition, to serve the communities of Ekurhuleni equally, regardless of gender, race or creed,” he said.

“I will do my best to serve the people of Ekurhuleni without fear or favour.”

Following his acceptance speech, Masina introduced the members of his mayoral committee (MMC).

“In putting together this team we considered various issues, among which were capability, gender and age,” he said.

“This team has been put together to optimise service delivery.

“We will continuously assess our performance, so that the necessary interventions can be made timeously.

“After all, every healthy organisation must reflect on its performance on a regular basis, to determine if the machinery remains relevant to the course.”

According to Masina, all the MMCs have been briefed on their field of deployment and he trusts that they will conduct their duties in the correct manner.

Along with the announcement of the MMCs, the chairpersons of committees and oversight committees were chosen.

These committees are put in place to assist the MMCs to research and analyse issues that are presented in council by ward councillors.

Masina and his team aim to ensure that the municipality will be run successfully for the next five years.
