Gunman seen aiming weapon at child

The City Times has received an image depicting the robbery scene that unfolded at West Pack Lifestyle on Sunday (August 21).

One of the images that emerged from the footage is of a gunman seemingly pointing a pistol at a young child.

The owner of the store, King de Castro, permitted the City Times to use the picture after streaming through the footage of the robbery.

De Castro said four gunmen entered the shop at about 2pm on Sunday and held up employees and customers.

One of the customers allegedly threw one of the gunmen on the floor, as he suspected they were wielding fake guns.

Another gunman saw this and reacted by shooting at the customer. The victim was transported to Life the Glynnwood Hospital shortly thereafter.

The owner told the City Times that there were 10 to 15 customers in the shop at the time of the incident.

“No arrests were made by 4pm on Monday afternoon,” said Benoni Police Station spokesperson, Const Zunickha Essakjee.
