Benonian set to star in reality show

Mrs South Africa finalist Simone Schroeter is set to star in a reality television show that will be broadcast early next year, in the United Kingdom (UK).

The channel will issue a statement nearer to the expected time of airing, in April or May, with more details, and this will coincide with a promotional visit to the UK.

BCT: Tell me about your new television show?

SS: The impression people have about us is a warped sense of reality and it simply doesn’t happen!

It’s time to show them what life in South Africa is actually like!

So, to kick-start the “feel good factor” towards our awesome country, my family and I are proudly part of a new reality television show tasked to shine the light on the truth of our land by using the Schroeter family as a vehicle to deliver this truth by going about our everyday life.

BCT: Will this be live? (Will you be the host, or co-cost or have a panel etc?)

SS: We are busy filming now and are scheduled to film until early next year, so it’s definitely not a live broadcast.

BCT: How does it feel to be a Benoni woman who has her own television show?

SS: To be honest, it has not sunk in yet, because we have been so busy filming, we haven’t really had time to sit and think much.

I am definitely working harder than I have ever worked before; that I can say.

Being a Benoni woman does make me proud, because we are a great bunch, we Benoni people, so it is fabulous to help to fly the flag.

BCT: What are your family’s thoughts on you hosting a television show?

SS: Well, at first they had a laugh and thought the idea of me on TV was funny, but when they realised it was as much their show as mine they took a different view, and now they see it as a real responsibility, as it has the potential to change the world’s perception of South Africa and improve the quality of people’s lives here as a result.

BCT: What are your future hopes and dreams for the show?

SS: People from different backgrounds and cultures in South Africa (SA) need to know they are all beautiful and empowered, as everyone is equal and they are each a valuable part of why this land is so special.

This show will allow the world to peer in through the window of my family and see for themselves that there is a real and normal everyday life happening here, which helps lay to rest the misconceptions the rest of the world has about SA.

BCT: Who is involved in making this show possible?

SS: Without the support of my family and this country it wouldn’t be happening at all.

While visiting relatives in London, earlier this year, I was having lunch near Oxford Circus and spotted Right Said Fred with Harley Benn, having lunch with celebrity adviser Richard Curson.

I started talking to Richard and, months after he had visited my family in SA and listened to my passions about changing misconceptions about the country, he telephoned me and asked if we would be up for doing a Kardashian-style reality show to tackle misconceptions.
