Local artist speaks at Matisse exhibition
The first major showcase in Africa of the work of French artist, Henri Matisse, is currently garnering great interest among art lovers at The Standard Bank Gallery in Johannesburg.

The first major showcase in Africa of the work of French artist, Henri Matisse, is currently garnering great interest among art lovers at The Standard Bank Gallery in Johannesburg. During a special viewing of the exhibition, titled Henri Matisse | Rhythm and Meaning, on August 4, former recipient of the prestigious Standard Bank young artist award, Sam Nhlengethwa of Benoni, addressed guests about how he too was influenced by Matisse’s work. Seen here are Nhlengethwa (left), Baleseng Nhlengethwa, Kojo Baffoe and Kholisa Thomas. The exhibition will be on at the gallery until September 17.
