New committee for Benoni Toastmasters

A new group of people were recently selected to oversee the 2015/2016 Toastmasters’ year for the Benoni Toastmasters Club.

Inducted at the latest meeting, the focus of the seven individuals is to ensure that the club and its members reach their full potential.

The newly-inducted members aim to encourage any person wishing to improve their speaking, leadership, listening and communication skills to visit the club, to see what Toastmasters is all about.

The new committee members and their positions are:

•Ferdinand de Bruyn: sergeant-at-arms (SAA)

•Svitlana Dyachuk: secretary

•Clive Jones: vice-president of membership (VPM)

•Michael Bratt: vice-president of public relations (VPPR)

•Dave Walls: vice-president of education (VPE)

•Johan Taljaard: Treasurer

•Terry Burns: President

The committee will be supported by immediate past president Mary Sosola as well as experienced Toastmaster Ian Bratt.

Toastmasters is a non-profit organisation that started in 1924, that teaches speaking, leadership, listening and communication skills.

The Benoni club meets every second and fourth Wednesday night of the month, from 7pm to 7.30pm at the The Lake Club Benoni.

Their next meeting is on August 10 and the committee says it is meeting is open to anyone, and encourages any person wishing to visit, to come along.
