Upgraded clinic opens in Crystal Park

Hundreds of Crystal Park residents came together to witness the unveiling of the Level Two Crystal Park Clinic on July 29.

The R21.7-million upgrade to the facility will improve health infrastructure, accessibility to primary healthcare services and the health status of the community.

This clinic, situated on Strand Street, provides health services to Crystal Park, Cloverdene, Putfontein, Chief Albert Luthuli Park and Mayfield.

The extended clinic is now equipped to provide basic healthcare services to more than 2 500 patients per month, and 1 629 patients on antiretroviral therapy.

The clinic is divided into different primary units, such as acute care, ante-natal care and post-natal care services, care for mothers and infants and care for chronic conditions such as diabetes, TB and HIV/Aids.

Women’s health services, care and counselling for rehabilitation and mental health and dedicated youth programmes are also facilitated.

The clinic is equipped with the latest eHealth technology.

MMC for Health and Social Development Clr Makhosazana Mabaso said the eHealth system has been introduced in all clinics in Ekurhuleni.

Currently there are 52 clinics operating on the eHealth system in Ekurhuleni.

“Thirty three years ago we had a four-room house clinic; today we have a bigger and better clinic,” said Mabaso.

Mabaso said Ekurhuleni is performing very well when it comes to health.

“You will now be able to receive SMS’s that will alert you on your next appointment and when your medication is ready for collection,” she said.

Mabaso urged the community to take care of the facility.

The crowd was entertained by the Daveyton Senior Citizens Choir and Toddler Town Nursery School.

Clr Mondli Gungubele, mayor of Ekurhuleni, was pleased that the day to unveil the clinic has finally arrived.

“It has been announced that in Gauteng there are four top rated clinics and all four clinics are in Ekurhuleni,” said Gungubele.

“This is the 23rd state-of-the-art clinic built in Ekurhuleni; we are proud of the work we have done.”

Gungubele said if the service is not as good as the clinic itself, then the clinic is meaningless to the people.

“Hence, we know you will receive good service in this facility,” he concluded.

The clinic operates Monday to Friday, from 8am until 4.30pm.
