Police ask you to record serial numbers

Benoni police are urging residents to keep a record of serial numbers for their electronic items.

Benoni SAPS spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele said this is to help the police when items have been stolen.

“The serial number will help police to track down the stolen items from pawn shops or from items found by the SAPS,” she explained.

“When opening a case, also register the serial number of your stolen item, whether it’s a laptop, TV, or radio, etc.”

People who have the serial numbers of goods that have been stolen are encouraged to give this information to the Benoni SAPS.
