Seven arrested in two roadblocks

Seven undocumented people were arrested today (July 18) in two separate roadblocks in Benoni.

Capt Nomsa Sekele, Benoni SAPS spokesperson, said the first roadblock was held on Pretoria Road, from 9am to 10am.

Ten fines were issued to the value of R1 800 and six people were arrested for being in the country illegally.

An hour later, police set up a roadblock on Miles Sharp Street.

Here they wrote out 18 fines to the value of R8 000 and arrested one person for being in the country illegally.

On Friday (July 15) evening, two men were arrested for drinking and driving.

One was arrested on Main Road and another on Lanyon Road.

They were released on Saturday morning on bail of R1 500 each.
