Pokémon gets Benoni (GO)-ing

Northmead resident Alessandra Bordone (20) is attempting to gather the Benoni community with the use of a new cellphone game called Pokémon GO.

The Pokémon GO application has gripped the world, and Benoni is next on the radar.

The application is based on the Japanese anime programme called Pokémon (short for pocket monster) and uses GPS to find your location via your cellphone.

The game requires you to physically walk around your neighbourhood, or current location, in order to find these colourful creatures and “capture” them for battle.

There are different levels within the game and the higher your level, the more you can interact with other users across the world.

Alessandra has created a Facebook group called Pokémon GO Benoni, where other Pokémon GO enthusiast can meet up and “catch” the Pokémon creatures safely in numbers, whilst also making new friends and getting out and about.

Alessandra said they meet every week if possible or whenever they can.

There are currently about 40 people on the Pokémon GO Benoni Facebook group.

The next Pokémon GO meeting will be taking place at Flora Farm on Sunday, July 17, at 10am.
