Man critical after street stabbing

A 46-year-old man was transported to hospital after he was stabbed six to eight times in his back.

The incident occurred on the corner of Elston Avenue and Park Street, Western Extension this morning (July 14).

ER24 spokesperson Kelly Burchell said paramedics were called to the scene around 6.15am.

“When we arrived on scene the man had been stabbed six to eight times on his back,” said Burchell.

The man was in a critical condition and was transported to the Life the Glynnwood Hospital.

Benoni SAPS spokesperson Const Zunickha Essakjee confirmed the incident but could not say what case was opened.

No arrests have been made.
