Marimba festival comes to town

Tom Newby School will host the annual International Marimba and Steelpan Festival, on July 30 and 31.

The event is curated by Education Africa, in partnership with Benoni’s Tom Newby School, with the support of the Department of Arts and Culture.

With about 1 600 participants, the festival will involve a series of competitions that will take place throughout the weekend.

As part of the Africa Month initiative, this event is aimed at promoting social cohesion among South Africans and Africa as a continent.
