Four wanted for armed robbery

A case of business robbery was opened at the Benoni Police Station, after an armed robbery occurred at a Caltex garage, in Bunyan Street.

The robbers struck on July 7, at around 7pm.

Benoni SAPS spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele said the complainant told police a man entered the garage’s store, pretending to be a customer.

“Suddenly, the man pointed a firearm at the cashier and demanded money, while three other men went into the store’s office and started searching for valuables,” said Sekele.

“The four men took off with an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes.”

No arrests have been made and police are investigating.

Sekele added that business robberies in Boksburg North and Brakpan have been committed using the same modus operandi.

“We suspect that these men were involved in these cases,” she said.

“We urge managers and staff members to be more cautions, as there has been an increase in business robbery cases.”

Anyone with information that can help the investigation is asked to contact their nearest police station or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
