Sinomsebenzi empowers communities through training

Sinomsebenzi's free business training course, which was offered to the public on Saturday, July 2, at the White House Healing Centre, was received with much enthusiasm from prospective entrepreneurs.

There were various topics on the programme, such as advertising, income-generating investments, understanding markets and costs and profits.

Trainees interacted in group discussions and also participated in a business-related game and then received training certificates.

Facilitator Allan Holmes said the trainees were from surrounding areas such as Wattville, Daveyton and Benoni.

The free business training is offered twice a year, in January and July, to the public and is sponsored by local churches.

Trainees journey with trainers and mentors at a deeper level when they’ve become part of the 18-week training programme that Sinomsebenzi offers where they meet once a week.

“The mentors pair up with and are there to guide the trainees,” said Holmes.

Trainers in the programme are volunteers from different churches in Benoni and Springs.

Because the trainer volunteers of Paradigm Shift are from different churches, they will be changing their name to the “Benoni Christian Community”.

Holmes said they were in need of more mentors.

Free one-day business training will be held again on July 9 and 16 from 8.30am to 5pm.
