Man avoids Farrarmere hijacking

An attempted hijacking took place in Farrarmere last night (June 30).

Capt Nomsa Sekele, Benoni SAPS spokesperson, said the incident happened at around 8.45pm, on Cambridge Street.

“According to the complainant, he stopped at his driveway and was approached by a man at his driver’s door window,” said Sekele.

“The man tried to open the vehicle door, but the complainant managed to reverse and drove to CMS.”

Sekele said the victim said the would-be hijacker was armed.

It is unclear whether the gunman was on foot or drove off in a car.
