New Rotary presidents revealed at breakfast

The new presidents of the Rotary Club of Benoni van Ryn and the Rotary Anns of Benoni van Ryn, for 2016/2017, were inducted on June 25.

The induction was held at Eat @ The Bistro, to welcome the new presidents.

Various awards were handed out to members of the club, such as the Paul Harris Fellow award, which was presented to Merial Fridberg, for her continuous service within the Benoni community.

Rotary Club of Benoni van Ryn president Ken Gosnell delivered a speech that highlighted some of the projects his club had embarked on during his tenure as president.

Gosnell emphasised the importance of both clubs working together to make an even bigger impact on the community.

Rotary Ann president Linda Gosnell also highlighted the projects that her club has undertaken throughout her year as the reigning president.

Ken Gosnell handed over the reigns to Cheryl Gallagher, who will now serve as the Rotary Club of Benoni van Ryn president.

“I’m very excited for the year ahead,” said Gallagher.

Linda Gosnell handed over the reigns to Denise Jones, as the Rotary Anns president.

“I’m a little nervous and in awe that they chose me,” said Jones.

“It’s an awesome task and I look forward to continuing with our projects.”

Members of both clubs welcomed the new presidents and expressed how they were looking forward to the year ahead under new leadership.
