For the love of dogs

The Covenant Life Centre, in Northmead, echoed with howls and barks when The Animal Guardians (Tag) hosted a microchip and adoption day on June 18.

Tag director Lyndsay Ousman said they have had an incredible success rate in finding owners of lost dogs through the microchips.

“If anyone finds a lost dog or cat, they must take it to the SPCA or bring it to Tag; our vets will conduct the microchip and return the dog to the owner,” said Ousman.

“As Tag, we believe that every dog deserves dignity, vet treatment and a loving home.”

Tag is a non-profit organisation that helps to assist animals from underprivileged communities.

They visit communities in Benoni, Etwatwa and Zenzele, to provide pet owners with food and free sterilisation.

On the day they micro-chipped about 80 dogs and five dogs were adopted.

As Tag is dependent on donations and their charity shop for their funds, they urge members of the public to donate dry pet food and to visit the Tag charity shop, at Shop 5, the Covenant Life Centre, 25 Webb Street, in Northmead.
