More wheelie bins available to Benonians

Ward 23 residents can collect their wheelie bins between June 23 and 25.

This ward includes Brentwood Park, Northvilla and Goedeburg.

Residents may collect their wheelie bins from the park on the corner of Diascia and Stokroos streets, and the park on the corner of Hopetown Road and Swellendam Road on all three days.

Wheelie bins on Thursday and Friday (June 23 and 24) may be collected between 10am and 6pm.

Residents who collect their bins on Saturday may do so between 9am and 6pm, or until the last resident has been attended to.

All residents collecting their wheelie bins need to present:

• Your latest municipal account

• A copy of your ID

• Or the ID of the person collecting the wheelie bin on your behalf

• A pen

“Each ward has been allocated their own amount of wheelie bins, so residents are encouraged to collect their wheelie bins during the allocated time in their ward,” said Ward 28 Clr Mary Goby.

Ward 23 Clr André du Plessis said: “All residents who live in complexes and have a bulk skip, do not need to collect a wheelie bin.

“Those who stay in a complex which is administered by a managing agent, and do not receive an account letter, need their managing agent to collect a wheelie bin for every unit on behalf of the complex.”

The City Times inquired with the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) about why the roll-out schedules were not released to the media, to which EMM spokesperson Zweli Dlamini said the schedule will be discussed with ward councillors.
