Road trip following Sir George

Several enthusiastic participants completed a road trip on June 12 which served as a fund-raiser for Hospice East Rand.

These participants of the Hospice East Rand Adventure travelled from the East Rand Italian Club through the towns of Benoni, Boksburg and Bedfordview, following clues relating to Sir George Farrar.

After their road trip, they returned to the East Rand Italian Club to have snacks and a prize-giving ceremony.

“We had about 50 people participating and their scavenger hunt included 17 stops,” said Laura Kirsten, Hospice East Rand PRO and fund-raiser.

“The trip was loads of fun, informative about Sir George and well-organised,” said Morehill resident Donnae Fourie.

Another participant, Lynn da Silva, said she learned a lot during her travels.

Her husband, Jorge, said he entered with his whole family and it was a good trip to do with them.

Anita Pienaar and her team, Sharon Storey, Michelle Marillier and Alain Regnard, from Boksburg and Germiston, said the trip was educational and they would do it again.

Hospice East Rand cares for patients with life-limiting diseases.

Kirsten said the final amount raised through the adventure was not yet known at the time of going to print.
