UPDATE: Suburbs to remain in dark till afternoon

Power is expected to return to parts of Benoni by 2pm.

The metro said technicians were on site, working on the problem.

Parts of Northmead, Rynfield, Brentwood Park and Goedeburg, to name a few, were left in the dark since Monday evening.

According to metro spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, the cause was a cable fault at a Rynfield substation, in Pretoria Road.

Numerous calls and Facebook messages from the public indicated several areas were still without power at noon, on Tuesday.
