Mother desperate to find missing Rynfield boy (14)

A mother has appealed to people who may have information about her 14-year-old son's disappearance to come forward.

Ethan Burdett’s mother, Tania, said her son was en route to a swimming session in Rynfield this afternoon (June 13), the same suburb in which he lives.

Tania said she offered to drive Ethan to the class, but he declined the offer.

“He said, ‘no, don’t worry, I’ll cycle’,” Tania told the City Times.

She said the ride should have taken him five minutes, but he never arrived at his destination.

The concerned mother sent a request for help to the Benoni CPF at around 7pm.

She said a community member told her that he saw a child matching Ethan’s description near the John Barrable Hall at about 5pm.

Ethan, who attends Shanan Christian School, was wearing black pants and a black jacket, with black takkies that were partly orange.

He is believed to have taken his blue kit bag with him, which has yellow trimmings on it.

Tania said her son appeared normal today.

“We need to find him; he has never acted strange,” she said.

Ethan’s father, Jason, is at the Benoni Police Station opening a case.

Tania said Ethan’s close friends do not know where he is.

A community member, who did not want to be named, said the search has extended to petrol stations in Benoni, Homestead Dam and a few shoppings centres, to name a few.

Anyone with information can contact Tania on 071 862 5165.
