Four arrested for murder

The fourth suspect believed to be involved in the murder of a 33-year-old man was arrested on June 9.

The victim was shot dead on May 7, in Lindelani.

According to Benoni SAPS spokesperson Const Zunickha Essakjee, the deceased confronted four men who allegedly robbed him of money and his cellphone the day before his death.

He was allegedly shot dead by one of the men soon after he confronted the four who have now been arrested.

The Benoni SAPS nabbed the first suspect on May 19, in Lindelani.

Benoni Crime Intelligence netted two more men on May 24, and recovered a handgun believed to have been used in the shooting.

Essakjee said the Benoni Crime Prevention Unit arrested the fourth suspect on June 9.

The suspects are aged between 27 and 33 years.

The man who was arrested on June 9 was expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court on June 13.

Essakjee could not provide details of the other three men’s court appearances.
