End in sight for Pretoria Road works

Almost a year after construction on Pretoria Road started, the project is expected to be finished by the end of the month.

Work being conducted on Pretoria Road at the end of May.

According to Themba Gadebe, metro spokesperson, the projected completion date is June 30.

A sign erected on the road stated June 30, 2018, as a date of importance, but according to a person familiar with the project, this date signifies the end of a contract between the metro and the construction company.

The contract entails the metro using this company for projects on Pretoria Road until the agreed-upon date, according to the person, who could not be named.

The metro was approached for comment on the matter, but none was received at the time of going to print.
