The function was held at the Benoni Country Club on Friday.

Frederick Botha was congratulated on his achievement of 200 blood donations, Willem Roux for his 225th blood donation and Hendrik Uys was recognised for his 250th donation of blood.

Uys’ wife, Marie said the Springs resident is 75 and only stopped because he recently had two strokes and received a pacemaker.

She said he was sad to be forced to stop.

Uys was committed to donating for 50 years.

The event was also attended by people who have donated 50, 75, 100, 125, 150 and 175 times respectively as well as youngsters (25 or younger) who have donated at least 20 times.

Guests were honoured with gifts and enjoyed their meals and each other’s company during the evening.
