A fire occurred at a substation on Pretoria Road early this morning, causing the outage.
This is the second blaze at the substation, with another having happened in January.
The municipality said technicians are on site, and will provide an update on when power will return to Crystal Park and Ebotse Golf and Country Estate as soon the time frame is known.
The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) told the City Times that the cause of the fire is not yet known.
“Ekurhuleni technicians are still determining the actual cause of the fire,” the municipality said.
“Technicians are working around the clock to restore power to all affected areas.”
