UPDATE: Water supply should be back – metro

After water pressure was low to non-existent in several Benoni suburbs this morning (May 31), due to two burst pipes being repaired, the metro said at around 2pm the supply had been restored.

According to metro spokesperson, Themba Gadebe, Brentwood Park’s water was off due to a main line being repaired on the corner of Great North and Stanley roads.

“The water was closed off for the team to work on the pipe, which burst at around 4pm yesterday,” Gadebe said on May 31.

“There was another burst pipe on Pretoria Road, which caused low water pressure for Northmead and Rynfield.

“Those areas will still experience lower-than-normal pressure, but Brentwood Park’s supply should be fully restored,” Gadebe said.

Comments on Facebook indicated in addition to the above mentioned suburbs, the areas of Farrarmere and Northvilla reportedly also experienced low water pressure.
