Three arrested with ‘jamming’ device

Three men were arrested in Daveyton on Saturday, May 28, for being in possession of a “jamming” device.

The jammer is used to deactivate a tracker in a vehicle after it has been hijacked or stolen.

Benoni SAPS spokesperson Lieut Nomsa Sekele said crime intelligence obtained information about three men who were in possession of the device.

“The information received was that the suspects were moving around looking for a buyer,” she added.

“They were traced and arrested before they could sell the device.”

The Ekurhuleni Central Task Team made the arrest at 1pm.

The suspects are charged with possession of an implement to commit a crime.

They were expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court today, May 30.
